Abstract | The effect of the mixture fraction gradient on a turbulent premixed/non-premixed, rod stabilized, isooctane/air, V-flame was studied. Two-dimensional line spectrometry was performed along a wide spectral range (UV to near IR) to identify radiating species and to characterize each branch of the partially premixed flame (PPF). Chemiluminescence imaging of OH* and CH* was used to estimate time averaged heat release rates. Results are presented and discussed and limitations of these line of sight diagnostics techniques are considered for the current flame configuration. Preliminary OH PLIF images are shown and the design of a proposed experiment for heat release Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) is described. |
