| Abstract | The development of two dimensional infrared (2D-IR) spectroscopy is reviewed with particular emphasis on the experimental conditions that are required to produce 2D-IR spectra. The 2D-IR spectra of synovial fluid evaporated to dryness on a Teflon® film are presented as a new example of the kinds of experiment feasible using polymer stretching as the source of perturbation, and the potential applications of electric field as a perturbation method are discussed. |
