Abstract
The development of a sound bond between new concrete or repair mortar and mature, hardened concrete requires good surface preparation, adequate compaction of the new concrete or mortar, and sufficient curing. It would be unrealistic to expect that these requirements be fully met in most site situations. For this reason, some practitioners and construction chemical manufacturers promote the use of bonding agents to augment the bond at the interface. Latex- and epoxy-based materials are generally used.
