Abstract | This paper describes a development of a calibration system for weld testers, or weld current monitors, at the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial (INTI) in Argentina. The calibration system is presently capable of generating short duration currents of up to 15 kA. A number of improvements have been implemented in order to increase the current generating capability and to reduce the measurement uncertainties from about 2% to less than 0.5%, which is challenging due to the variability of operational and test conditions. The goal of the development is to provide a traceable calibration service with reduced uncertainties to automotive industry in Argentina and to make it conform to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 in the foreseeable future. |
