| Abstract | In 1983, the Engine Laboratory acquired an Omnitrak ballistic calibrator for calibrating its own turbine fuel flowmeters, and, eventually, those of other Canadian users, as a national facility. Initially, the manufacturer’s calibration had been used. In the spring of 1987, the Omnitrak was calibrated by Engine Laboratory personnel for the first time. The report documents all aspects of this calibration for future reference and, more importantly, for traceability of the calibration accuracy. Very close agreement was established between the manufacturer's and NRC’s calibration factors, when compared on the basis of identical correction procedures. The original oversight of a small balance correction by the manufacturer was identified and taken in account. |
