Abstract
An overview of the objective-based approach to construction codes. Objective based codes will provide codes users with clearly stated guidance on why a specific requirement exists; as well as greater flexibility for designers, builders and manufacturers to produce innovative designs, and will result in a significant reduction in the cost and effort associated with code-related compliance and enforcement
