| Abstract | At the time of the 25-hour endurance test carried out on a Derwent VIII turbojet engine fitted with the N.A.E. reheat system, which was described in N.A.E. Test Report TR-156, the fuel control system was not fully operativeo The 25-hour test was carried out using hand-operated cocks to reinforce the solenoid cocks, and with a motorized two-way valve which was subsequently eliminated.
Intensive development work at the National Aeronautical Establishment has now rendered the solenoid cocks fully operative, and this report describes acceptance tests carried out on the solenoid cocks, and an acceptance test of the complete reheat fuel control system, carried out on the Derwent VIII engine. It is concluded that the results of these tests justify the submission of these components and the reheat fuel control system for official flight approval. |
