Abstract | The Combined Algal Processing (CAP), developed at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), valorizes algal cellular components by fractionating the biomass and converting the carbohydrate, lipid and protein fractions into fuels and coproducts. Scenedesmus auctus was processed using the CAP process and samples were collected at each step and later supplied to the National Research Council Canada (NRC). The objective of this work was to characterize the biomass at each step of the CAP, and evaluate the methane yield under optimal conditions. |
