| Abstract | The effect of water flow on deck on ship motions is significant for ships, especially for small vessels in large waves. A mathematical capsizing model, developed by the Center for Marine Vessel Development and Research (CMVDR), was applied to predict the ship motions of a fishing vessel model in large waves. The predicted results were validated by the model tests, which were carried out in the Offshore Engineering Basin of the Institute for Marine Dynamics (IMD). The test results include six-degree motion measurements in regular and irregular oblique waves for two conditions: solid weight and fixed volume water in a tank on deck. The numerical simulation results show a correlation with the test data. |
