Abstract | This report is a guide to using the Motion Generation Software for the Marine Dynamic Test Facility. It discusses what the purpose is; to create the signals for the MDTF. It highlights some fundamental properties of Visual Basic and this particular code. It explains some of the more difficult concepts for a new user. Additionally, the manual has many examples and illustrations for demonstration purposes. The appendices have been laid out for the ease of the reader, these include an explanation of each tab and form in the program, a glossary explaining the variables in the code, a flow chart of how the main subprogram operates as well as copies of the code for both versions of the program. The resulting program is very efficient and meets the criteria placed upon it but it could use future work in the animation, and some questions still left unanswered. It is recommended to use either a different program for the animation or a supplementary graphics program with Visual Basic Version 5.0. |
