Abstract
The dispersive characteristics of surface waves on layered media (e.g. a gold film deposited on a PZT substrate) are examined with a Rayleigh-to-compressional conversion (RCC) lens using a geometry with wide electrodes and narrow gap. Special attention is paid to samples which have nearly the same surface wave velocity as that of the lens. The V(z) curve of the RCC lens may be used to measure the Rayleigh wave velocity of the sample. Some surface-wave velocity profiles of specific samples together with a few subsurface images obtained by an RCC lens of this particluar geometry are given.
