Abstract
The organizations in Canada primarily responsible for promulgating regulations on fire safety of combustible materials and some of the regulations in force are reviewed. The paper deals with construction materials for buildings, transportation equipment (motor vehicle, marine, air, railway and subway), furnishings and textiles. The problem of controlling materials on the bases of flammability, generation of smoke and evolution of toxic decomposition products is discussed.
