Abstract | High speed uniaxial compression tests were conducted on columnar, granular and monocrystalline ice. Results were consistent with previous work and showed an increasing strength with strain rate in this range. The monocrystals, oriented with the c-axis parallel to the loading axis, were slightly stronger than the other types of ice. |
