Abstract
Normal freezing and thawing degree-days in change-over months can be computed with adequate accuracy from normal monthly average temperatures using the hyperbola: Y[2]-N(t- 32)Y=C. The positive value of Y is thawing degree-days and the negative value freezing degree-days; t is the average temperature in a month of N days, and C is a constant. The development of this equation and the reasons for rejecting alternatives are discussed in detail.
