Abstract
Structural neoprene gaskets are widely used in the North American construction industry. They perform relatively well, but some problems do occur, such as rain penetration, air leakage through pre-sealed glazing units, the fracture of glazing units and failure to retain the glass against wind load. The retention of glass by the gasket and the weathertightness of joints depend on the equalization of air pressure between the glass, gasket and frame.
