| Abstract | In composite sandwich structures, the ramp down from sandwich to solid laminate is a weak point. To investigate their failure, sandwich ramp specimens were tested in tension. Failure loads were lower with core ramp reinforcing manufacturing scenarios such as wrapped glass fabric, unidirectional noodle, potty or foam. Failure load was also lower for smaller ramp radius, highlighting the importance of manufacturing control. |
