Surface flaw density from three-point bend tests on ice beams

Abstract
This work tests the applicability of the weakest link theory to ice flexural failure, and shows that it does not apply. This implies ice does not fail from a distribution of pre-existing flaws, but suggest a crack nucleation criterion must instead be exceeded.
