Abstract | This report describes the first attempt to correlate model experiments carried out at the OEC, on a simplified planing hull in regular waves, with previously published data. During the experiment program, it was found that the nominal running trim of 4 degrees was not obtained, and so the test program was expanded to allow the results at 4 degrees to be extrapolated. Regular wave experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of speed and running trim on the behavior of the hull in regular waves, of varying frequencies. It was found that motions data gave good agreement with published results, but acceleration data did not agree well. |
