Abstract | This paper reviews our recent effort in the study of photoluminescence (PL) from single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) suspended between pillars. Luminescence is obtained from both ensembles and individual SWNTs in air, at room temperature without any post-growth processing. PL spectra reveal some of the one-dimensional characteristics expected for this material system, such as narrow asymmetric linewidths, and polarized emission and absorption. |
