Abstract
The authors calculate the heat gain weighting factors for lights in order to evaluate the load placed on air conditioning equipment. They determine these factors for lights recessed into a suspended ceiling beneath a reinforced concrete slab, examining two distinct cases: one in which the space between the ceiling and the slab is used for ventilation exhaust and the other where this space is unventilated. The calculated weighting factors seem to be lower than those published elsewhere, and the results appear to depend entirely on accepted heat transfer coefficient values.
