Abstract | This work is to model the outflow of a propeller stream under the influence of mixed air bubbles, and study the interaction between the bubbly flow and ice fragments in a channel behind a ship (ice clearance). To model the motion of bubbly flow generated by the propeller stream system, two different approaches have been utilized, i.e. physical modelling and mathematical modelling. The physical model was designed to focus on observing the bubble-generating process and the bubbly flow patterns, and to examine those assumptions adopted in the mathematical model. On the other hand, the mathematical model was designed to focus on computing the velocity and pressure of the bubbly flow, and to simulate the bubbly flow patterns behind a ship. |
