Abstract | A major characteristic related to the structural strength of fibreglass is its tensile strength. There are a number of factors that are thought to affect the tensile strength of fibreglass. The factors that are of interest here are material lay-up, specimen temperature, heat treatment, submergence and pre-stress. This report will detail tests that are conducted to determine which of the aforementioned factors significantly affect the tensile strength and thus the structural integrity of lifeboatfibreglass. |
