Abstract | The sound transmission characteristics of windows are of interest not only for specialized applications such as recording studios but also for homes and offices where the intrusion of outdoor noise is of concern. For a variety of reasons, including variations in test set-up and glass dimensions, existing transmission loss data are not in close agreement. In an effort to clarify the situation, an extensive series of measurements was made with minimum variation in test conditions. The paper describes the test set-up and presents the transmission loss data. |
