Abstract | The work described in this report lists the results of a round robin study on Athabasca bitumen coordinated by the UNITAR center for heavy crude and tar sands. This study is part of their ongoing project on the laboratory Standards on the Characterization of Heavy Crude and Tar Sands. These round robin laboratory tests were initiated to evaluate the accuracy and precision of selected standard test methods as applicable to heavy crude and bitumen. This second round robin is intended to generate sufficient analytical data on a sample of Athabasca bitumen that would qualify it to be used as a reference material for laboratory quality assurance. A total of 27 laboratories (including NRC) from 12 countries are participating in this collaborative study. |
