| Abstract | Photoacoustic Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy is employed as a nondestructive method of depth profiling calcified tissues. The enamel layer is depth profiled using both scan and phase modulation. Phase resolved-phase modulated spectra provide superior localization and reduced photoacoustic saturation. Phase synthesized spectra derived from the in-phase and quadrature photothermal signals provide all the essential features to reconstruct the enamel depth profile. |
