Abstract
The paper features the development and application of CAD/CAM technology to materials forming processes. A research programme focusing on materials behaviour during the design, tooling and production phases is examined. Discussion of the generic concept for establishing a fully integrated system shows how technology crosslinking can be achieved. The benefits of a combined analytical-experimental research are emphasised. Typical applications to injection moulding, die casting and other forming processes are presented.
