Abstract
Transient moisture distributions in test specimens of thermal insulations, during three well-defined heat and moisture transport processes are presented. These distributions are calculated from gamma-ray absorption measurements. The transport precesses investigated are: 1. drying of a block of thermal insulation, 2. transport of a fixed amount of water across a slab of thermal insulation in the presence of a thermal gradient and 3. continuous transport of water vapour across a slab of thermal insulation in the presence of a thermal gradient.
