Abstract
With improved understanding of the behaviour of materials and increasing sophistication in the mathemetical modelling of the fire process, new insight has been gained into several problems of the performance of structures in fire. The belief that fire can attack a building element on one side only, and that fire temperature is the manifest reference information in performance evaluations are discussed here.
