Abstract | The object of this investigation was to set up the necessary apparatus to determine the specific surface area (S.S.A.) of the cements, pozzolans, and other materials being used in projects of the Building Materials Section, Division of Building Research. Several methods are available for determining specific surface areas of such materials. The Blaine method was chosen because of its simplicity and also because it is one of the accepted methods of the A.S.T.M. for fineness determination of cements. |
