Abstract | This report examines the feasibility and desirable features of a location-aware portable information base to support bridge inspection that would remove the need for the inspector to take construction drawings to the site. It describes the prior art of systems for visual inspection of structures, provides an overview of enabling technologies, presents three alternative conceptual designs of a location-aware portable inspection system, and discusses the limitations of location-finding technologies. |
