Abstract | Installation of electrical wiring and electrical boxes involves making holes through vapor barriers which are then sealed with caulking (sealants), tape or other approved material. The object of the Note is to report on a study of whether the ingredients of the sealant compounds would cause deterioration of the electrical wire covering over a period of time. Results of the study indicate that commerical sealants do not produce significant changes in the electrical insulation of the wire. |
