Abstract
The 2005 National Building Code of Canada included, for the first time, objective-based requirements based on functional, intent and application statements. This paper presents the key components of Canada's objective-based codes concept. It describes how objective-based codes are intended to be used and the training material and delivery intended to support the transition to objective-based codes. It also provides reactions and comments since the launch of the new codes in 2005.
