| Abstract | The work described in this report forms part of the ongoing research in wave slamming on jacket deck structures. The report compares and discusses the differences between using a regular design wave and the maximum wave occurring in an irregular wave spectrum, to quantify the impact load. The vertical and horizontal impact forces were measured on a jacket structure model in a series of regular waves. These forces were then compared to those measured in a wave having the same zero-crossing period and crest height as the regular wave. Test results showed no appreciable differences between the two wave types. Marginal differences are discussed. |
