Abstract | Ovcr the last dccades, prolifcration of harmon ie producin g loads in the electric power system is noticeable, duc to, in large part , increase of use of many power electronics devices. This tren d contin ues as the role of power electronics in Smart Grid developments is very important. The Smart Grid is also characterized by an ever incrcasing use of intelligent elcctron ic dcviccs (lEDs) for monitoring, control, protection and mctcrin g in digital su bstations. The IEDs, non-convcntiona l instrument transformcrs (NCITs) with digital output, and merging un its (M Us), opcrate with power system voltage and currcnt sa mplcd values (SVs) conforming to IEC 61850-9-2 format. The SVs a rc also used for revenue mctering by non-convcnti onal cncrgy mcters with digital inputs. The paper {discusses 1 invcstigatcs} the performance of c11crgy meters with digital inputs u11der 11011- sinusoidal waveform conditions. |
