Abstract | In this review we illustrate the great power of infrared spectroscopy when applied to problems in medicine and biology. The medical examples discussed involve the identification of bacteria and the mineralization of bone. The biological examples discussed concern the structure and dynamics of lipids and proteins and their interactions in biological membranes. |
