| Abstract | This is the record of a Symposium on Permafrost Geophysics which was held 13 and 14 November 1978 at Calgary, Alberta. The Symposium was sponsored by the Permafrost Subcommittee, Associate Committee on Geotechnical Research, National Research Council of Canada. It was the fifth symposium on permafrost geophysics, the first taking place at Calgary in 1974 (NRC Tech. Memo. No. 113), the second at the University of Waterloo in 1975 (Canadian Journal of Farth Sciences, November 1976-May 1977 issues), the third, in Vancouver in 1976 (NRC Tech. Memo. No. 119), and the fourth in Saskatoon in 1977 (NRC Tech. Memo. No. 124).
There were 84 participants in attendance during the two-day meeting, 70 from Canada, 11 from the United States, 1 from Brazil and 2 from the Peoples' Republic of China. Complete texts or extended summaries of most of the papers are presented here. A report of the evening discussion period on 13 November is also included. |
