Abstract
The application of expert system technology to polymers processing will be discussed more particularly in the area of injection molding. This relatively new technology is extremely important because it provides a very practical foundation to increase the productivity of any computer aided design and manufacturing operation. This paper highlights issues about the research, synthesis, and integration phases needed to implement such a composite technology. Illustrations of the system architecture will be given as well as the logical relationship between the applications and system components.
