Abstract | Among the ways in which societies seek to meet sustainability goals is the improvement of building energy-efficiency. This brief article describes three ways in which psychologists can contribute to this work: First, by adding to the evidence that judicious choices of technology, building design, and operation can lead to buildings that save energy while improving organizational productivity and individual well-being. Second, psychologists can develop and test advanced decision-making models to explain how organizations choose sustainable technologies. Third, we can use our communication and behaviour change skills to remove or to overcome barriers that impede the application of this knowledge. |
