Abstract | We present a novel finite element model for the simulation of free surfaces flows of fluids undergoing phase change (melting or freezing) in enclosed geometries. The modeling complexities arising from the modeling of phase change are discussed and the extended stabilized finite element approach chosen to tackle this issue is presented. The proposed model is first verified on simplified geometry before it is applied to the study of phase change in complex 3D geometries using unstructured meshes. |
