Abstract | This guideline provides a procedure for evaluation of the performance of Seismic Force Resisting Systems (SFRSs) and their force modification (RdRo) factors. The procedure relies on the application of non-linear dynamic analysis for quantification of the seismic performance of the SFRS. The concepts in this guideline are illustrated using a cantilevered CLT shear wall example. This guideline can be followed and referenced by those who submit proposals for new SFRSs with defined RdRo factors to be included in NBC, and can also be followed/referenced by designers and AHJ as part of their due diligence for code compliance for SFRSs as alternative solutions. |
