Abstract | The current state towards the development of a hybrid process for the capture of CO2 from conventional power plants and from integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plants is presented. Capture for IGCC plants also produces hydrogen. This proposed process is based on clathrate hydrate crystallization operating at 273.7 K and on membrane separation. The operating pressure at the crystallization stage is manipulated with the addition of additives, which substantially reduce the hydrate crystallization pressure. The performance of the processes is evaluated by calculating the separation efficiency and CO2 recovery. |
