| Abstract | The displacements in an infinite plate with a hole or crack under tension have been determined using Nisitani’s body force method. Details of the numerical solution technique are presented. Because the Poisson’s ratio v cannot be set to zero when calculating displacement, the solution method is found to be much more complex than the one for calculating stresses in the infinite plate. |
