Abstract | In August 1976, as part of a continuing study of the effects of road and rail noise on residential areas, a study of the noise environment in the South Keys area of Ottawa was undertaken. This area was chosen because of proposed changes in the road system which could be expected to produce changes in the noise pattern. This report, the " before" portion of the study, includes a survey of existing noise and a prediction of future noise levels. An effort is made to relate these noise levels to widely accepted noise criteria, in order to provide a basis for evaluation of the environmental impact of the proposed development. |
