Abstract | All experiments conducted in hydrodynamic facilities are subject to error in results. The experimental error occurs not due to negligence in experiment preparation or realization, but could be an inherent outcome of combined imperfections in model construction and set up, used instruments, experimental procedure, variation of environment and analysis. An experimental error is a difference between the true value and measurement. Since we do not know the true value we cannot calculate the error. The error can only be estimated. Uncertainty analysis provides means for estimate of experimental error. Uncertainty can be defined as a maximum value that the error can take in a measurement. |
