Abstract
This paper presents laboratory test response of a variety of hot mix asphalts mixes tested using a strain-controlled loading approach. The research was done to assess the proposed AASHTO TP62-03 test protocol under certain conditions and the possibility of high stress levels resulting in permanent deformations in test samples. Study results were used to assess the suitability of switching to the strain-control approach to effectively maintain analysis within the linear visco-elastic response. Dynamic moduli determined in the study were used to construct master curves that map variations in the material stiffness with changes in traffic speed and temperature condition.
