| Abstract | The IMD as part of its internal research and in an attempt to standardize testing techniques and procedures, carried out tests on model hulls of a stern trawler, a frigate, a merchant ship, a bulk carrier and of open and ducted model propellers. Calm water resistance experiments were conducted on all the hull models while self-propulsion experiments were conducted on the stern trawler, frigate and bulk carrier models. The merchant ship hull model was also tested for wave pattern resistance. The model propeller used in the self-propulsion tests of the bulk carrier hull model had propeller open water experiments with and without the nozzle performed on it. |
