Abstract | The effect of para-fluorophenylalanine (PFP) on the ploidy was tested on three cell lines of Datura innoxia (N = 12). The stable percentage of haploids within the cell lines was 10, 50 and 80%, respectively. PFP added to subcultures of each cell line was ineffective in altering the frequency of haploids or aneuploids. Natural differences in sensitivity to PFP were observed between the three lines. Following selection from one line, sublines resistant to 100 and 500 μM PFP were isolated. Shoots have been regenerated from the PFP-resistant lines in the presence of PFP. |
