Abstract | Methods used previously to obtain optical properties vary widely. Many of the values found in the literature are used generically, despite the specific nature of the experiments used to obtain these data. What these methods share, however, is that the soot under study was collected in-flame or shortly post-flame where the stream was still at elevated temperatures. The goal of the present work is to instead study cooled soot, which relates to many practical applications such as tailpipe emissions or atmospheric measurements. |
