Abstract | The use of light gauge steel decking over steel joists is common in Canadian construction. Early load failure with large deflections has been identified as a problem with the system in the case of fire. The report describes a fire test conducted to demonstrate the superior fire endurance properties of a joist-supported steel roof system with a 1- inch concrete topping protected by a suspended ceiling of mineral board. |
