Abstract | The results of wind tunnel tests on a series of two-dimensional modela simulating circular cables with various ice formations are presented. The stability of small oscilla tions of a transmission line in a steady wind normal to the · span is considered9 and the wind tunnel result.s are used to calculate the behaviour of a cable with D shaped fairings. The results of dynamic tests with an oscillating model show reasonable agreement with the theoretical predietions. |
